Panoramic Tour & Historic City Walking
Schedule: 15:30 – 18:00
Departure from Palexco to enjoy a panoramic bus tour along the picturesque seafront promenade. Discover the city's iconic landmarks:
- The Obelisk and historic galleries
- Marina waterfront and San Antón Castle
- Hercules Tower (1st century Roman lighthouse – UNESCO World Heritage site)
- Orzán and Riazor beaches
- San Pedro viewpoint – the best views of A Coruña with its unique glass funicular
A walking tour through the charming Old Town will follow, including the ancient Church of Saint James (still welcoming pilgrims on the English Way) and the beautiful Azcárraga Square. The tour concludes at María Pita Square, honoring the city's heroine who famously defended A Coruña against the English corsair Francis Drake during the Anglo-Spanish War (16th century).
Navantia & Modern Ferrol
Schedule: Full day excursion
Departure from Palexco towards Ferrol to explore Navantia and the Naval Arsenal – one of Spain's most important military shipyards and naval bases. Built in the 18th century by order of King Philip V and the Marquis of Ensenada, the Arsenal remains the primary logistical support base for Spain's modern F-100 frigates.
Highlights:
- Visit an active Naval vessel (subject to availability)
- Naval Construction Museum
- Walking tour of Modernist Ferrol and the Magdalena neighborhood
- Experience Galician Modernism architecture by Rodolfo Ucha Piñeiro and early Eclecticism styles
Lunch in Ferrol and return to Palexco.
Naval Arsenal Visit Authorization: The Naval Arsenal is a military facility. All participating companions must be registered and authorized 15 days prior to the event. Companions enrolled after this deadline cannot be guaranteed access to the Arsenal. Please register early to ensure your participation.
