Outreach Program
Outreach Activities
The SNE Annual Meeting is integrated into the host city through an extensive program of outreach activities, organized by the commissions Young Nuclears and WiN (Women in Nuclear), aimed at students and the general public.
Aware of the importance of communication and education around nuclear energy and its applications, as part of the 52nd Annual Meeting, this session brings together all the outreach and educational activities that will take place during the week of October 5-9 in the city of A Coruña.
The aim of the outreach program is to bring knowledge and advances in the field of nuclear energy to all audiences, with special attention to young people. We want to foster interest in science and technology, and show how nuclear energy can contribute to a more sustainable and safe future.

WiN Lecture: Science Against Misinformation

How to distinguish scientific evidence from myths, hoaxes and pseudosciences
Objective: To bring science to society in an engaging, accessible and participatory way, awakening curiosity and fostering critical thinking among people of all ages and levels of education.
Speaker
Dr. Sonia Mato
Degree in Physical Sciences from UAM. Ph.D. in Materials Engineering from the University of Manchester (United Kingdom). Was a Marie Curie Fellow at Leibniz Institut IFW Dresden and Juan de la Cierva researcher.
Participants
Up to 80 participants. Free admission, subject to availability.
WiN Mentoring: STEM Vocations

A mentoring program designed to inspire young people in scientific and technological disciplines, breaking stereotypes and showing career opportunities in the energy and nuclear sector.
Participants
40 students in 6th grade of primary school guided by 10 professional mentors (junior and senior profiles) from various companies and organizations in the nuclear sector.
Objective: Foster interest and vocations in STEM disciplines (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) among younger students, as well as guide their future professional development in the energy and nuclear sector.
STEM Workshops

With the aim of promoting STEM methodology (acronym in English for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) among younger students, the Spanish Nuclear Society organizes the STEM Workshops as part of the 52nd Annual Meeting, which will be held in A Coruña. Through this initiative, SNE seeks to add value to its annual meeting, offering Compulsory Secondary Education students an opportunity to approach technical and scientific concepts, both general and specifically related to nuclear energy.
The activity, which is open and free, is aimed at students in 3rd and 4th year of ESO.
