- The event will bring together more than 700 professionals from the nuclear sector, who will attend technical presentations, workshops, and plenary sessions on new projects, socioeconomic aspects, energy demand, and long-term operation.
In addition, the event will offer outreach activities to the citizens of Cáceres, including talks, workshops, and other initiatives aimed both at school audiences and the general public.
Cáceres, July 30, 2025. The city of Cáceres will host the 51st Annual Meeting of the Spanish Nuclear Society (SNE), which will take place from September 22 to 26 at the Conference and Exhibition Palace. This event is the benchmark congress for the nuclear sector in Spain and will bring together more than 700 professionals.
Participants will have access to a high-level technical program, including conferences, round tables, and scientific and technical presentations. National and international speakers will analyze the most innovative projects, the socioeconomic aspects of nuclear energy, its positioning as a key pillar to meet the growing energy demand of data centers, as well as a comparative and updated perspective on the long-term operation of nuclear power plants—a widespread practice in countries with such facilities, which addresses the challenges of the energy transition and security of supply.
The event will feature more than 300 technical presentations, plenary sessions, and workshops, creating a space for learning and reflection at a decisive moment for nuclear energy in Spain. In addition, it will bring together exhibiting companies in a dedicated fair area that gathers the entire sector. The technical program will also be complemented by socio-cultural activities, allowing participants to enjoy the city of Cáceres, its culture, attractions, and gastronomy.
An event open to Cáceres
The SNE is a scientific society whose mission is to disseminate knowledge on nuclear science and technology to contribute to a more sustainable and secure future. Aware of the importance of communication, outreach, and education regarding nuclear energy and its applications, the 51st Annual Meeting will also include a series of activities open to the citizens of Cáceres.
To foster interest in technical careers, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) workshops will be held for high school students in Cáceres. This activity will be complemented by mentoring workshops for girls in their 3rd and 4th years of secondary school, organized by Women in Nuclear (WiN), where female professionals in the sector will share their experiences to inspire future generations. Another highlight is the popular initiative “La ciencia es la caña” (“Science on Tap”), led by Young Nuclear Professionals, which offers informal talks on nuclear curiosities and current issues in a relaxed setting. The program is completed with an introductory course on nuclear energy for university students.
