Science also played a leading role in Cáceres classrooms in the days leading up to the 51st Annual Meeting of the Spanish Nuclear Society (SNE). The STEM Workshops, held on the mornings of Monday, September 22, and Tuesday, September 23, brought together more than 300 students in 9th and 10th grade from different schools in the city. The participants had the opportunity to approach science and technology from a practical, engaging, and interactive perspective.
With this initiative, the SNE reinforces its commitment to fostering scientific vocations among young people through the STEM methodology—an acronym for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. The workshops offered a variety of activities where students explored scientific and technical concepts in a simple and direct way, including activities specifically related to nuclear energy.
One of the highlights was the workshop “Programming without computers”, which allowed participants to discover the fundamentals of computational logic in a fun and approachable way.
According to the organizers, the experience exceeded all expectations: “The STEM workshops are a practical and enjoyable way to understand science, reinforcing our mission to bring it closer to all audiences in a simple and engaging manner.”
The strong reception from the students and their active participation in each activity confirm that investing in this type of program is essential to spark curiosity, inspire new vocations, and bring science closer to society within the framework of the SNE Annual Meeting.
