A Coruña will become the meeting point for Spain’s nuclear sector from 5 to 9 October with the celebration of the 52nd Annual Meeting of the Spanish Nuclear Society.
The conference, which will take place at the A Coruña Exhibition and Conference Centre (Palexco), will bring together more than 700 professionals to analyse the main scientific, technological, industrial and social challenges facing nuclear energy.
A high-level technical programme featuring conferences, round tables, plenary sessions, workshops and more than 300 technical presentations.
A leading technical programme
The 52nd Annual Meeting of the Spanish Nuclear Society will feature a high-level technical programme comprising conferences, round tables, plenary sessions, workshops and more than 300 technical presentations.
National and international speakers will address topics including:
- The application of AI in nuclear technology
- Latest developments in nuclear medicine
- Nuclear energy as a stabilising factor in geopolitics
- Decommissioning processes
- The importance of nuclear fuel
The conference will also feature the participation of exhibiting companies, creating an exhibition area that represents the nuclear sector as a whole.
The technical programme will be complemented by a range of social and cultural activities for delegates, giving attendees the opportunity to discover A Coruña and enjoy its culture, architectural heritage and gastronomy.
A conference open to society
In addition to its professional dimension, the 52nd SNE Annual Meeting will include a programme of outreach activities aimed at bringing nuclear science and technology closer to the people of A Coruña.
As a scientific society, one of the SNE’s main objectives is to promote knowledge of nuclear energy and its applications, contributing to a more sustainable and safer future.
Outreach activities
As part of the Annual Meeting, a number of initiatives will be organised for secondary school students, university students and the general public of all ages:
- STEM workshops
(Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) aimed at secondary school students - Mentoring workshops
for girls in the 3rd and 4th years of Spanish secondary education (ESO), delivered by Women in Nuclear (WiN), where female professionals from the sector will share their experiences - “La ciencia es la caña”,
an initiative by Jóvenes Nucleares featuring informal talks on interesting facts and current issues related to nuclear energy - Basic course on nuclear energy
