STEM Workshops

In order to promote STEM training (acronym for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) among younger students, the Spanish Nuclear Society is promoting STEM workshops within the framework of the 48th Annual Meeting in Córdoba. It is an open and free event, intended for students from Secondary Education Institutes (IES) in their last two years (3rd and 4th year of Compulsory Secondary Education).

The SNE would like to add value to its Annual Meeting by informing and training Compulsory Secondary Education students in technical and scientific concepts related to science and technology in general and nuclear energy in particular.

It is an open and free event, intended for students from Secondary Education Institutes (IES) in their last two years (3rd and 4th year of Compulsory Secondary Education).

This program consists of two itineraries that will take place at the Polytechnic University of Cartagena and at the Navantia facilities with different workshops.

Polytechnic University of Cartagena

In this itinerary, you will be able to enjoy three workshops that will include chemical experiments with real laboratory material, as well as the presence of a real science magician.

  • Sustainable Chemistry (Endesa)
  • Magic for Science Outreach (Nuclear Forum)
  • DIY Polymers (WiN Spain)

The Annual Meeting of the Spanish Nuclear Society concludes on Friday, September 30, coinciding with the celebration of the European Researchers’ Night. The Polytechnic University of Cartagena will organize several activities during that day as part of its “The Mediterranean Researchers Goes to School Night (MEDNIGHT GTS)” project, developed along with Murcia, Valencia, Alicante, Jaume I of Castellón, Polytechnic of Valencia, and Miguel Hernández of Elche universities, the Fundación Séneca scientific foundation, the Institute of Health and Biomedical Research of Alicante (ISABIAL), and the communication and strategy agency (ATAMA). MEDNIGHT GTS is a project associated with the “European Researchers’ Night” initiative from the European Union, funded by the Marie Skłodowska-Curie actions, with call identifier: HORIZON-MSCA-2022-CITIZENS-01 (MSCA and Citizens 2022).

This itinerary will also include three workshops and a visit to the outside of the facility. The workshops will include:

  • Nuclear 360 (Iberdrola)
