PLENARY SESSION II
The effects of climate change are observed in all regions of the planet, even more frequently and intensely than predicted by scientists. There is evidence that the alteration of the climate is not a problem of the future but of the present.
The Integrated National Energy and Climate Plan (NECP) is the roadmap that will lead to the scenario whose objective is to achieve climate neutrality with the reduction of at least 90% of our Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions by 2050, in alignment with the European Strategy.
The main objective set forth in the 2021-2030 NECP for the necessary energy transition is to achieve a practically decarbonized economy by 2050. In this context, the electricity sector is called on to be a key player in the shift towards a new energy model, and in particular, nuclear energy, which is essential to achieve decarbonization objectives. Apart from the commitment against climate change, nuclear energy maintains a safe and competitive energy system that allows for the delivery of energy to the consumer at affordable prices, favoring growth and job creation, which are other objectives of the NECP.
In general session No. 2 we will have three of the greatest experts on the issue of energy transition at the national level.
